The Story
This pseudonym “At Jana and Geta” is meant to bring to the attention of the Romanian market the desperate situation of small producers in the south of the country and beyond.
The two protagonists of our story (Jana and Geta) have lived for decades in Izvoarele commune in Teleorman county. Two ladies, two mothers, two grandmothers came with the inspiration and ambition to create a so-called ‘purely Romanian cooperative’.
It all started a few years ago, when the village of Izvoarele in Teleorman County was going through a very difficult period for small producers. People lived from one day to the next, so there was no security for tomorrow.
In a week like any other, in the village of Izvorele, the so-called “producers’ fair” took place, where the villagers brought a wide range of vegetables and fruits for sale.
Of course, Jana and Geta were not absent from the weekly fair that took place near their homes.
Coincidentally, the two were selling their products side by side. During that day, but not only, the two expressed their point of view, combined their ideas and laid the foundations of a successful idea, the agricultural cooperative La Jana and Geta.
The next day the two had a revelation, so they woke up with a strong desire to make a successful cooperative that would help many producers.Going to the square, Jana passed Geta’s household, which was in the garden, cultivating the land.
The two talked for hours, so on the next day in front of the boxes of goods was placed a sign that read “Quality Products, La Jana and Geta” that the two old women created one day after.
This is how “La Jana şi Geta” was born, a purely romanian cooperative.
Not long after that, the next day, Geta’s grandchildren decided to pay a visit to the two of them.
Hearing from friends and countrymen that the two were going to start together to develop a business.
There was a lot of discussion that day, plans were made and tasks were shared.
So the grandchildren took care of the actual sale of the products and Jana and Geta together with a few other old people took care of the production.
What they could do, what they could create, dating back to the time of their ancestors, the technique of cultivating and growing truly pure fruits and vegetables.
Everything that came out and will come out of the gardens of the two were and will be produced by quality 1, healthy products, products cultivated and cared for by several pairs of skilful hands, with love and responsibility.
From then until today, the two work the ancestral land, thus creating the products that have arrived and will reach your plates.
